Alkoomi – White Label Rosé 2020
Colour: Brilliant pale salmon pink with hues of onion skin.
Nose: Wild strawberry with notes of fresh herbs.
Palate: Flavours of wild strawberry and pomegranate, carried by a textural mouthfeel with a refreshing acidity.
Winemaking: This Rose is a blend of Petit Verdot (29%) Shiraz (27%), Grenache (23%), Tempranillo (17%) and Malbec (4%) harvested in the early morning hours.The fruit was destemmed and crushed into the press and immediately drained to tank in order to attain the desired colour and flavour profile.After fermentation, the wine was left on yeast lees for 12 weeks before clarification and bottling.
Vintage: A very dry growing season led to one of the earliest vintages on record.As a result of the lack of rainfall, the yields were considerably reduced.There also was an abundance of Eucalyptus tree blossom and this prevented further loss of quality and yield from bird damage. The resulting fruit, was of excellent quality with impressive flavour concentration.
