On the palate, the wine is full of flavor and dominated by elegance and balance, as well as a great texture of the tannins, with a long, refined finish.

The 2018 vintage received its best score to date from renowned critic James Suckling. For the first time and marking a historic milestone, Don Melchor 2018 awarded 100 points by the American critic James Suckling, the highest score a wine can ever receive. In his assessment and while conducting a noteworthy tasting, the critic highlighted the wine as "amazing. The vitality and energy of this wine are dazzling—impressive complexity, flowers, blackcurrants, raspberries, and peaches. Full-bodied, though refined and polished with flawless texture and splendor.
