Finn Thomson - Ardnamurchan 2017 - 8 Year Old

Finn Thomson Ardnamurchan 8 Year Old Scotch from a single ex bourbon cask, which lets the distillate character of the whisky really shine through. Only 267 bottles produced. 

Nose : Clean, coastal, and wonderfully fresh. Lemon zest, sea salt, and green apple rise first, underpinned by sweet malt and vanilla pod from the bourbon cask. A gentle thread of peat smoke weaves through, more driftwood than bonfire.

Palate : Vibrant and well-textured. The first impression is sweet malt and citrus brightness lemon curd, pear drops, and vanilla fudge, balanced by a flicker of peppery oak and gentle maritime smoke. Notes of creamy malt, salted caramel, and a hint of charred pineapple emerge with time. The bourbon cask contributes a lovely honeyed warmth and clean oak spice without overpowering the distillate.

Finish : Medium to long, drying slightly with notes of sea spray, white pepper, and sweet vanilla cream. A lingering touch of smoked lemon peel and malted barley rounds it out with quiet elegance.
