The Colonial Estate is owned and managed by Englishman and 'cult' winemaker Jonathan Maltus who made his name with St Emilion's Château Teyssier and its cult sister wines Le Dôme and Château Laforge. The Colonial Estate is comprised of a range of vineyards throughout South Australia's Barossa Valley and Eden Valley.
Classic ripe Shiraz, handpicked from old vines based in the north of the Barossa Valley. The grapes are double-sorted – by bunch and then by grape - on arrival at the winery and, after fermentation, aged in French and American oak for a year. Purple in colour with a round, enveloping taste.

For partners Duncan Forsyth, John Buchanan and Alan Brady, Mount Edward is an intensely personal project, driven by a passion for pinot noir and a love for the rugged beauty of Central Otago. The first vintage was in 1998 and in just seven years the company's Pinot Noir has earned a reputation for consistency and quality, and developed a loyal following around the world.
This is a dark and sensual wine, full of personality with all the structure, elegance and wonderful fruit characters that only true Central Otago Pinot Noir can offer.
