A warm, rich wine with dark plum and prune aromas. The sweet cedar oak character is still evolving, along with dark, rich fruitcake flavours. The palate is rich, full and weighty with length and a firm mouthfeel. Definitely built for the long term.
2009 was the last in a trio of extremely early vintages, but ended up being more temperate than its predecessor. 2009 started with a fearsome 7 day blast of heat before correcting itself into a mild, fine harvest that was more measured than the intense madness of the two previous years.
